The WM Hope Foundation was established  in 2012 by Winnie Musonda. After losing three siblings to HIV/AIDS, Winnie used the foundation as a healing salvo by turning a terrible family tragedy into something positive that would shape and impact the lives of many.

HIV and AIDS continues to be a major developmental challenge for Zambia. In 2017, there were about 1.2 million people living with HIV in Zambia, according to a report by unaids.org. In this same year, there were about 250, 000 orphaned children, 48,000 cases of adults and children newly infected with HIV, and 16,000 AIDS-related deaths. That is a huge number for a country of only 17 million people. Extended families are left with the burden of caring for orphaned children and in most cases, they do not have the financial means to send the kids to school.

Our goal is to ease some of this burden one child at a time by working to raise funds to help ease the financial burden of school fees while simultaneously raising HIV/AIDS awareness among the youth.

By also providing financial support to poor women living with HIV, the foundation aims to empower them to be independent and financially stable so they can live a healthier lifestyle needed to prolong their lives.
